ANTM & DYAO & NCIS & TV
I finally have TV again, and I am just in awe of what is on now days. I never realized commercials could be 5 minutes long. I don't know when this happened...And game shows are still being called "reality TV." I am not a fan, honestly, of "reality" shows. I do not watch Survivor, Big Brother or any of the others. No interest in them. But....I have a confession...
I am in love with America's Next Top Model. NO, REALLY! Not obsession, but love. I love the fact that I can record them, and so I am almost "caught up" now, seeing the ones that have previously aired. Perhaps it is a vicarious thing--I am too old, round, and short to have any thoughts about something like that myself.
Ironically, the other show that I like lately with any sort of reality glimmer...is Dance Your Ass Off (not that round though). You can tell some of them want this really, really bad. It is a great idea.
Non-reality, I "found" NCIS. This cast is GREAT! They are such an ensemble. Working in a "similar" occupation, I can see a lot of correlation between the interactions of the characters and the people I work with. The other day, I even caught myself saying, "if this was NCIS, that would have earned a head smack."
The best part about the new TV service ... DVR
DVR rocks! Gotta go to the bathroom, PAUSE. Someone calls on the phone, PAUSE. Gotta go to work, RECORD. Thank you to the person that came up with this one! You're a rock star!!!
K, now I suppose I should attempt to work. Maybe not. They get away with it on TV...

EARTH DAY 2009
My job requires searching for various things, at times, on the internet. I usually use Google, since it seems to give me a better variety and more options for items. Last year at this time, Earth Day, I posted the Google Earth Day banner, as it was the best one that I had seen all day.
And today, the honors go to....

And today, the honors go to....

It's just beautiful...I love the creativity, the colors, and especially the theme (I swear I should have been born near the ocean!).
Thanks Google, for the beautiful banner. HAPPY EARTH DAY!!!

Brittney's done it again
Managed to find herself in the news for controversy I mean...
I was driving along the other day, and this new song came on the radio. After listening to it, I figured it had to be a new Brittney Spears song. I was catching most of the words, however, there were a few that were still getting past me...so I looked it up on line to find the title. All I really had to go with was "if you see her."
Doing a search, I came up with the title "If you seek Amy." I also came up with a whole slew of "why is this song controversial" hits....
Thinking about it, I couldn't figure it out either, except for the fact that it sounded like Brit was chasing after a girl...(yeah, we can't seem to get past that as a society)...but that didn't seem like too big of a deal. After reading some of the explanations, I finally understood the fuss.
Brit made a funny! REALLY, it is pretty creative for someone having such "serious" problems not too long ago. For the slower witted (as I was) translation:

get it now?
GOOD JOB BRIT! Way to go girl!

Headline fun
From the Denver Post:
Tolls possible for Pena (~ omitted, cause I can't figure out how to type it on here) BLVD.
HOWEVER--the first link said Tolls Possible for Pea Blvd.
So, apparently now you will have to pay to go Pea....
Associated Press:
Marines: Mechanical, Human Errors led to jet crash
narrows it down....
Reuters
Distracted Kindergarteners become gamblers?
LOL
Reuters
German twenty-somethings perfer internet to partner
Guess there is a large chance of saving money that way....

Yay, MOVIES!!!!
So, after a couple of years of --I can wait for that to come out on DVD...this summer is looking up in movie choices according to a perusal through the IMDB:
Underworld: Rise of the Lycans--saw it. Pretty good for a sequel (yes I know it is actually a prequel). The storyline was true to the series, making the other two completely plausible. Couple of let downs--1. No Kate Beckinsale. 2. Bill Nighy wasn't Bill Nighy enough-as he is in the others. 3)Good, but not quite as good.
Fast and Furious: I love the tag line--New Model. Original Parts. Vin, Paul, Michelle, Jordana. 'Nuff Said....
X-Men Origins: Wolverine: It's Wolverine. It's Hugh Jackman. Questions?
Angels and Demons: (note to self, should maybe watch Da Vinci code first..., but since have read both, know what is going to happen anyway...)
Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian: Really, another one? Hmmm...
The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3: Saw the preview for this the other day, or was it half the movie (not sure), but it looks fairly interesting.
Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs: I LOVE this series, and I am not afraid to admit it.
Public Enemies: Christian Bale/Johnny Depp/Gangsters/1930s/4th of July weekend (with no Will Smith Picture in sight yet?).... *smiles*
G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra: quote IMDB "So the eye-candy factor is high..." With the leatheresque suits on the stills--Yes---yes---it--- is. It is very, very HIGH...
Whiteout: Potential thriller that doesn't need to steal from horror, and parade itself falsely...oh, and Kate Beckinsale ;)
And to end the list with "don't need to see it"--
Virus movies--I think there were about 5 that I counted
Parodies of movies genres: 2 or 3
Creepy kid movies--3 or 4 (movies where a child character is creepy, not creepy children's genre movies)
Weird kid movies--3 or 4 (movies where the children's genre is weird, not the child character)
On going "they should stop already" sequels--4 or 5
Bring on the popcorn!
